How to get to Gippsland Campus

LOCATION

The main conference venue for the IEEE-ICIT'09 conference on Industrial Technology is Monash University, Gippsland campus, which is located at Churchill, in the heart of Gippsland. The Secretariat Desk and Speakers Room are located at the campus, and this will be the venue for plenary sessions, morning/ afternoon teas, lunches, and technical track sessions.

TRAVEL

All visitors to Australia, with the exception of those travelling from New Zealand, will require a visa or electronic travel authority. For information visit: http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/index.htm.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE THE NECESSARY TRAVEL DOCUMENTS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE.

TRANSPORT FROM MELBOURNE AIRPORT TO HOTELS

Once you have cleared immigration and customs (customs are very strict in Australia ; ensure that you are not carrying foods or other restricted items) you will find taxi ranks. Transfer by taxi from Melbourne Airport to the city centre takes around 30 minutes and costs approximately AUD $50.00. Skybus AUD $15 (every 20 min)

TRANSPORT FROM MELBOURNE TO GIPPSLAND

There will be a fleet of air-conditioned coaches that will pick delegates up from the following hotels:

The Rendezvous – Flinders Street, Melbourne

Rydges Hotel – Exhibition Street, Melbourne

Mantra on the Park – Exhibition Street, Melbourne

and take them to the conference venue in Gippsland. At the conclusion of the conference delegates will be taken back to Melbourne via coaches.

TRANSPORT FROM GIPPSLAND ACCOMMODATION TO CONFERENCE VENUE

Delegates will be picked up from their hotel each morning and taken to the conference venue. At the conclusion of each conference day delegates will be returned to their hotel or taken to a Social Event.

ACCOMMODATION

The conference website lists hotels in Melbourne and Gippsland. Please note that the coach will pick delegates up from 3 Melbourne hotels. If you have not elected to stay in one of these hotels please make your way to one of the selected hotels for pick–up on Tuesday morning at 8.00 – 8.30am. Rendezvous Hotel, Rydges Hotel and Mantra on the Park

The Conference Secretariat and Registration Desk will be located at the Gippsland campus in the foyer of the auditorium?

CONFERENCE RECEPTION

The conference reception and welcome will be held at Level 46, 55 Collins Street, Melbourne

Monday 11 February.

CONFERENCE DINNER

The conference dinner will be held on Thursday 12 February

The conference committee will arrange coaches to transport delegates to the dinner venue. More details will be available closer to the event date.

STUDENT CONFERENCE DINNER

The conference dinner for students will be held at the Student Union, Monash University - Gippsland Campus on Thursday at 6.00pm

PLENARY SESSIONS

Each presentation will be allowed 15 min + 5 m in Q & A

PROGRAM

At the Conference, a bulletin board, located next to the Conference Secretariat, will display any changes to the program or news about special events.

PROCEEDINGS

The proceedings will be produced as a CD containing all the presented papers and delivered after the conference.

SPEAKER'S ROOM

All electronic presentations must be prepared in a PowerPoint format to be loaded in advance of your presentation.

Please bring your presentation to the Speaker's Room, located to be advised. Your presentation must be stored on a USB stick or CD-Rom and it must be delivered at least two hours PRIOR to your presentation.

PRINTING FACILITIES

Copy facilities will be available at the campus. If you would like to make copies of your paper or presentation to be distributed to conference delegates, please note charges incurred will be at presenter's expense.

INTERNET

Internet facilities are available free of charge for conference delegates

NAME BADGES

At the conference secretariat's registration desk, all registered delegates, members of the press, accompanying guests and exhibitors are kindly requested to wear their name badge when attending all conference activities and social events. A replacement fee of AUD $5.00 will be charged for every lost or forgotten badge. In order to facilitate the duplication of the badge, please present a copy of your registration confirmation letter or onsite registration form as proof of your registration.

ADMISSION FOR SOCIAL EVENTS

You will receive confirmation to all social events that you have nominated on your registration form. Do not forget to wear your name badge to the social events, as you will need this for entry and they will be checked for security reasons.

VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers wearing green “Ask Me” badges will be assisting delegates and directing everyone to breakout venues.

MESSAGES

Messages for delegates will be left on the bulletin board next to the Conference Secretariat and Registration Desk. Contact number at the campus is + 61 3 990 26200. Callers wishing to leave a message should ask to be transferred to the IEEE_ICIT'09 Conference Secretariat. Delegates are advised to consult the message board during conference breaks.

CATERING

Morning, afternoon teas and lunches will be provided during the conference.

SMOKING

Delegates are requested to refrain from smoking, as smoking is not permitted in and around the campus area.

WEATHER

Melbourne's weather in summer ( Dec - Feb) is generally warm to hot with temperatures ranging from 14-35C.

INCIDENTAL EXPENSES

The Conference Organisers or the Conference & Events Management Office will not be responsible for any incidental expenses incurred by delegates during the conference.
