Koorosh Khodabandehloo

Koorosh Khodabandehloo is a graduate Electrical Engineering form King’s College, University of London. After graduation and a short period in industry in 1982, he continued with research at the Centre for Robotics and Automated Systems, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London. At the age of 25, he was appointed Lecturer at the University of Bristol and continued an academic career over the period 1985-1997.

During the period at Bristol, he established the Advanced Manufacturing and Automation Research Centre, was appointed Director of the Centre and later appointed Professor of Manufacturing Engineering. He established a number of post graduate and undergraduate degree programmes.
During the same period he published over 100 papers in journals and conferences covering manufacturing automaton and skilled robotics. The Centre instigated several National and International research projects dealing with processes involving the handling and cutting of non-rigid materials covering topics form aircraft composite component manufacturing, meat deboning and packaging, to surgery.

In his role as Dean of Engineering Research at University of Bristol and member of the UK Technology Foresight Committee he instigated several new research initiatives to encourage automation research focused to meeting the needs of industry including Aerospace, Food, Medical and others that deal with non-uniform or flexible products.

In 1997 he began operating as a consultant to the food industry working for specific clients under BMC. BMC has been focused in four main areas: business and operations improvement, project management, advice on new automation, and first development of industrial robots for international clients.

Koorosh Khodabandehloo has been active as founder, chairman or organising/technical member of many international conferences including IMAC (International Meat Automation Conference), which held its 5th bi-annual event in Sydney, 28-29 Nov. 2007. He currently acts as an expert for the European Commission.
